Collectively:
Adam and Shawna are a husband and wife team. We have been together since 1996. At the present time we are owned by four cats, one dog, and two large ponies.
We are both members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval reenactment group with chapters all over the country. Our local group is the Shire of Quintavia. You will find links to both the SCA and the Shire or on our favorite links page if you want to know more.
In the Society Adam is known as Faolan Dearg, Shawna is Swannoc Walter. We both Have our AOA (Award of Arms). Faolan is a Siege Engineer as well.
Aside from this website, we also Merchant (sell our stuff) at various SCA events around New England, as well as at the occasional Renaissance Faire or craft show. We’ll try and keep a list of Upcoming Events on our main page and our Contact page, but feel free to ask us for a list.
Adam:
I’m Adam, and this is my section. I play with tens of thousands of tiny metal rings and pound on hot metal as two of my hobbies. I have a Gallery of Metal Things that showcases my works to date that no longer live with me. You can get there by clicking the Metal Gallery link.
I’m an experienced Chain Mail Artist, working all kinds of designs in colored metal rings. I love the chance to create challenging custom art designs for people! My past works here include jewelry, belt badges, wall hangings, business signs and chain mail Christmas Tree ornaments. For you medieval buffs, I have also made armor in the past, and am willing to work designs into chain armor for one of a kind coifs, vests, shirts, and tabards. (I am not currently willing to create chain mail bikinis. It upsets my wife, and I have to live with her. Short vests, yes, bikini tops, no.) I usually work in Anodized and Acid-Etched Aluminum, but I am willing to discuss the possibility of working in other materials such as those found at www.ringlord.com if other materials suit you better.
I also work with a forge. I’m stilling learning on the forge, so my offerings here are simpler, and rarer. I can create tent stakes of different sizes, S-hooks, C-Hooks, and simple things like that. The tent stakes can be used for the obvious reason, or used to hold a rope to stake out a path, garden, or flower bed. S-hooks are great for many purposes, and I can create them in a wide range of sizes, from small enough for hanging pots and pans in your kitchen, to a large heavy set I made for my wife to hold tension on her handspun yarns hanks while they dried.
Any ready made items I have available are going to be scattered on their regular pages. Prices on custom works vary based on the material, size and complexity of the piece, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Shawna:
I guess you could call me the softer side of Wolf’s Head Whatever. I create things from fiber. My offerings include handspun yarn, woven items and crocheted items. My woven and crocheted items include shawls, stoles, blankets, ponchos and even the occasional rug. You’ll find my materials an interesting blend, from a good selection of items in easy care acrylics, to items using alpaca, llama, silk, linen, cotton and sometimes even more exotic materials. Very rarely you will find sheep’s wool items here; I have a contact allergy to sheep’s wool, so I have to take some serious steps to create anything out of sheep’s wool.
